Mermaid Avenue
Australian independent band formed in 2015 around the songwriting of Peter Clarke. Their debut album, ‘Temptation and Half the Truth‘, was released in 2018 to strong reviews. One song, ‘Rise‘, was a finalist in Blues and Roots Radio’s International Song of the Year 2019. The band returned to the studios to commence recording their second album ‘Sugartown‘ (due for release in May 2022). Again, the critical response has been warm and the first two singles ‘Turn the Page‘ and ‘Philosophy‘ have been finalists in global music songwriting competitions.
The band eschew writing for a style or trend and tend to concentrate on letting the songs evolve to what they naturally must be. Songs about the human condition.
